alexisNet Terms of Use


c.1) Use of AlexisNet
[t.A] General use

AlexisNet was created to be a public network for conversation and related content.
Any activities and/or actions which limit and/or affect the rights and enjoyment of other users, or the existence and/or functionality of the network as a whole are prohibited, this includes (but not limited to):
[ss.1]
Making attempts to gain access to IRC channels in which you the user are restricted to (Either by Banning, Certain Channel Modes/Functions, or other methods of access denying).
[ss.2]
Impersonating another user (eg; Using their nick when they are not) with the intent to harm said persons reputation/image/etc, confuse other members of a channel that know said person, confuse an individual that knows said person. (This also includes most strictly impersonating a staff member of the Network in whole)
[ss.3]
'Flooding' (eg; Sending a 'Flood' of lines/msg's to either an individual or a channel on purpose to disrupt)
[ss.4]
Harassment, Threats, Intimidation, or otherwise causing any members of the network to feel uncomfortable due to your actions.
[ss.*]
Once more, the above Subsections are NOT the only terms of Section A, other situations can be addressed at staff's discretion at the time its felt someone is violating a policy.

AlexisNet is solely located in the United States, so therefore must abide by all laws, major ones to note (but once more not limited to):
[ss.1]
Distribution of Illegal Pornography (eg; Child pornography) is strictly prohibited.
[ss.2]
Distribution of software protected by US, International or otherwise known copywritten and/or content property goverened by any laws (eg; In short, 'Warez' sharing) is strictly prohibited.

AlexisNet General Regulations which you agree to when connecting:
[ss.1]
Mass advertising by any means (eg; 'Hey visit www.somerandomsite.com!') whether in private discussion to another user or in a channel is not permitted.
[ss.2]
Channels orienting of Adult content (eg; All about sexually related topics, whether text or graphical links included) need to be +s at all times else the channel will be liable to be cleared by staff.
[ss.3]
All violations brought to the attention of staff of the network will be dealt with in the manner best felt by staff handling your claim.
We however assume no responsibility for the actions of those who use the network, but will enforce these rules by finding those who violate them ourselves at times.
[ss.4]
Bots are permitted to channels they are allowed in. This means no bots joining random channels and being a pain in the ass, and no Warez/File sharing/serv bots. You have a bot for your channel, then keep it to your channel please.
[ss.5]
Anyone using over 3 connections from a single source will have all further connections automatically killed. If you have a very good reason as to why you need more than 3 connections from a location, contact a Global Operator for assistance.

AlexisNet Server and Network Security Policies:
[ss.1]
Please do not 'Probe' network ports, these are simply IRC servers, and they are also maintained securely, random port scanning will be logged and is not welcome. (eg; Not being general IRC Ports of the network, examples being any UDP ports, HTTP/FTP/MySQL/Etc or any firewall notification of exploit attempts)
[ss.2]
Attempting any possible system exploitation to gain unauthorized access of network servers by any means is unwelcome and strictly prohibited.
[ss.3]
Macro, Botting, DoS/DDoS style attacks which cause connectivity issues with the network and or bandwidth problems that end up in extra bandwidth fees.
[ss.*]
Any of the above if tracked to an IP of a connected user can result in an immediate ban if felt necessary, and also be saved pending any possible future legal action depending on the severity of the 'attack'


[t.B] Use of Services
[s.A]
We include several service modules designed to assist IRC users, such as NickServ, ChanServ and MemoServ.
Services may not be used in any way that adversely affects the network or its users, including (and again however, not limited to):
[ss.1]
Cracking and/or attempting to crack any passwords of an members account or a channel owned by another member.
[ss.2]
Registering nicknames or channels for the sole purpose of preventing others from registering them.
[ss.3]
Flooding of any service module to the point of where it affects other members by lagging or not responding at all.
[s.B]
Use of HostServ, permittable VHosts and acceptable use:
[ss.1]
Any VHost requested through HostServ which is a real TLD of any kind (gTLD, ccTLD; eg; microsoft.com, alexisnet.net and so on) and is a validly registered domain name (not necessarily a FQDN) with a registrar can only be approved if you are the legit owner (as in can prove you are the registrant listed in a DNS lookup, not the admin/tech/etc).

Requested VHosts must be at least generally appropriate, some cursing can be permitted, however derogatory/racist words will not be permitted, nor will VHosts requested that word any sort of attack/harassment against a client/individual.




c.2) Server and Network Administration
[t.A] Duties of an Server operator
[s.A]
All AlexisNet Server(s) Staff (otherwise known as IRCops) have the following duties:
[ss.1]
To maintain the status and control of the network and its members/visitors. This includes dedicated staff assigned to a server and/or the network as a whole.
[ss.2]
To assist any and all members as long as they are able to, or else inform or point that member to another staff who can.
[ss.3]
To keep fellow network staff and administration informed of all content relating to member reports that was brought to them.
[ss.4]
To provide a friendly and polite atmosphere amongst the members of this network and keep it a place people respect and enjoy.
[ss.5]
To enforce the rules seen fit on the network and any official channels in the appropriate manner.
[ss.*]
If at any time you feel an IRCop has done their job innapropriately, you may contact any of the Services Administrators, or the Network Administrator and file your complaint with them.


[t.B] Duties of an Server/Network Administrator
[s.A]
In addition to those listed above, administrators also must perform these duties:
[ss.1]
To keep the server(s) they are assigned to maintain in a running order as to keep the stability of the network.
[ss.2]
To choose and maintain staff (IRCops) for the server(s) that they are assigned to maintain and administrate.
[ss.3]
Train and instruct new staff in the methods of OPing on AlexisNet and/or specific rules to the server(s) assigned to.
[ss.4]
Services Administrators who you will need to discuss server or account related issues when it comes to reporting a problem.
[ss.5]
Network Administrators work to maintain the main rules and staffing of all servers and the status of all servers completely.




c.3) Miscellaneous Information

These are the following methods of Network Warnings and what happens on what number of warn(s):
[ss.1]
On the 'First Strike' you will be Warned and an official warning will be logged.
[ss.2]
On the 'Second Strike' you will be Warned once more and an official warning will be logged again.
[ss.3]
On the 'Third Strike' you will be Warned, an official warning will be logged and you will be GLined from the network for 6 Hours.
[ss.4]
On the 'Fourth Strike' you will be Warned, an official warning will be logged and you will be GLined from the network for 1 Day.
[ss.5]
On the 'Fifth Strike' you will be Warned, an official warning will be logged and you will be GLined from the network for 7 Days.
[ss.6]
On the 'Final Strike' you will be Warned, a final warning will be logged and you will be GLined from the network Permanently.
[ss.*]
We DO reserve the right at any time to skip any warnings, 'Strikes', etc and issue any type of temp/perma ban if felt necessary.
